The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum is a comprehensive natural science and technology museum with Chinese characteristics, contemporary features, and Shanghai characteristics, invested and built by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government to implement the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, improve the comprehensive competitiveness of the city, and enhance the scientific and cultural literacy of citizens. It is a public welfare institution that provides popular science education to the public and an important base for popular science education and spiritual civilization construction in China. The Science and Technology Museum is located at 2000 Century Avenue, Huamu Administrative and Cultural Center, west of Century Square, and adjacent to Century Park to the south. The main hall covers an area of over 68000 square meters, with a building area of 98000 square meters. It is divided into 11 themed exhibition areas with different styles, 4 high-tech special cinemas, 3 art galleries featuring scientists and their footprints from ancient and modern times, 2 themed special exhibitions, and several temporary exhibition halls. Together, they vividly interpret the eternal topic of "nature, people, and technology" for visitors from all over the world. The main hall of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum was officially opened to the public on December 18, 2001. It is the first science and technology museum in China to pass the ISO 9000/14000 international quality/environmental standard certification and has become a national AAAAA level science popularization tourist attraction.
