Shanghai ZF Steering Gear Co., Ltd. is jointly invested and established by Shanghai Automotive Co., Ltd. (49%) and German ZF Steering Systems Co., Ltd. (51%). The company was established on November 13, 1994. The total investment for the first phase of the project is 40 million US dollars, of which the registered capital is 23 million US dollars. After a capital increase of 20 million US dollars in 1998, the total investment reached 60 million US dollars, of which the registered capital was 31 million US dollars. In 2005, it reached 122 million US dollars with a registered capital of 52 million US dollars. The company is still an advanced technology enterprise confirmed by the Shanghai Municipal Government. The company currently has the production capacity of various types of steering gears, steering pumps, and steering valve groups for cars and light buses, making it the largest and most comprehensive professional production base for steering gears in China. It is a supporting enterprise for many vehicle manufacturers such as Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai General Motors, FAW Volkswagen, etc. The company has currently obtained ISO9002, QS9000, ISO14000, and ISO/TS16949 certifications.
